I am currently in Winfield at their summer MACE conference. The
presenter did an excellent job of explaining why blogging is so
important. He kept stressing that it is read/write whereas a
typical web page is one way. I’m also publishing this post on my
blog via e-mail for the first time and I hope it comes out the way I
expect.

I’ve scheduled a meeting for the district tech cadre for Thursday, August 10 from 3:30 - 5:00 pm at the board office. The entire meeting will be focussed on what the goals of the cadre should be for 2006-2007. You could be thinking about the following items and be able to give some input.
1. Do we want to create an incentive system to encourage teachers to move forward with effective use of technology?
2. Do we want to have the cadre create a training system for teachers in order to use technology effectively? After year 1, we could possibly put together another group of cadre teachers along with some previous members to do whatever we did in this years cadre.
3. Do we want to create an electronic and paper document describing how we should be using technology in the district?
As you might be able to tell, we need to come to some consensus on what we want to accomplish this school year.
Thanks in advance.
Everyone was getting tired as information overload was in effect. (I asked the cadre members to reply to this post so they could see that I got an e-mail about the post and could manage the replies.)
I felt that we covered a lot of material in a short amount of time and that despite the temperature of the board room, a lot was accomplished. We didn’t get time to start to discuss exactly what the role of the cadre is …. we’ll need to do this at our next district level cadre meeting.
There was a district tech cadre meeting on Wednesday, July 19 at 1 PM at the board office.
Goals:
- Provide high quality training to district cadre throughout the school year using the latest technology
- Create electronic portfolio of effective technology usage
- Create a model for training other teachers in the district
- How do we affect change in the district?
